Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 13, 2026

The short version: Betterment never sees your data. Habits, completions, notes, and Health metrics live entirely on your device and your private iCloud. We don't run analytics, we don't track you, we don't sell anything to anyone.

1. What we collect

Betterment collects nothing on our servers — because we don't run any. Specifically:

2. What we don't collect

3. HealthKit

If you grant permission, Betterment reads (never writes) the following HealthKit data types to auto-complete habits:

This data is processed entirely on-device and is never transmitted to any server. You can revoke permission at any time via iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Betterment.

4. iCloud

If iCloud Sync is enabled (default on), your habit database is synced via Apple's CloudKit private database. The data is end-to-end encrypted under your iCloud account and is not accessible to us or anyone else, including Apple. You can disable iCloud Sync from the Profile tab.

5. Notifications

If you set a reminder for a habit, Betterment schedules a local notification on your device using Apple's UNUserNotificationCenter. Reminders never traverse a server.

6. Children's privacy

Betterment is intended for general audiences and does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. Since we don't collect any personal data, this is structurally enforced.

7. Changes to this policy

If we ever change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. We'll never change it in a way that retroactively reduces your privacy.
